Friday Video: Did Someone say Don Knotts?

Artist - Rob Crandall

(VIDEOS ARE DOWN)

Well it’s Friday again! For you youngsters out there it couldn’t have come too soon. For us old timers it seems like yesterday was Monday….in February….2010! Yes, the older we get the faster the time goes. It seems even the bad days streak by but it is Friday, the most poopular day of the week. Now back to you youngsters and the task at hand which happens to be a real peach of a movie, LOL! Did I just say that? I’m not that old!

We’ve got a real treat that many of you may never even heard of. I’m sure you’ve heard of the star, Don Knotts, made famous as the bumbling deputy on the Andy Griffith Show and then later as Mr. Furley on Three’s Company. What even you older readers might not know is that Don Knotts had quite a little film career as well. He starred in several comedies in the 60s and 70s and I for one loved him in just about everything he did.

This film is called the Ghost and Mr. Chicken. Don plays Luther Heggs a small town wannabe newspaper reporter who gets his big break when the editor of the Rachel Courier Express asks him to spend the night at the Simmons mansion that it just so happens was the site of a famous murder/suicide 20 years before. I could continue with this big long description but that would just delay this hilariously scary movie. By the way, did I ever tell you my life story? Well, I was born in a wooden sided station wagon in Tinklesnap Tennessee. My father cleaned the little glass windows on the street lamps and my mother was a fishwife…..KIDDING! I don’t even know what a fishwife is but now I can mark that off my list. Now lets get on with the movie kids.
