I’ve previously blogged about this zombie podcast show called “We’re Alive” and how great it was to see old radio theater being brought back to life through podcasts. Well I’ve actually listened and caught up with the story.
I have to say that I’m surprised and excited on how good of a script this is. Character development is well thought out and blends perfectly with the progressive script writing. I’ve been listening to this on my daily commute and morning runs and every once in awhile, I’ve had to deal with the embarrassment of people looking at me jerk back on my seat in the train because of these horrible sounding zombies scaring the #$%@ out of me.
Let me paint this picture:
It’s 4:30 am and pouring rain in downtown Los Angeles. I’m out for a quick morning 3 mile run. I’m soaked to the bone and running through the empty, dark streets and listening to “We’re alive”. I’m at a part in the podcast were some of the survivors are running for their lives through the streets of L.A. shooting and dodging these creatures. The gunfire effects sound so real that it makes me think the sounds are coming from the streets. It gets worse when the zombies make this ghastly, growling sound that resonates through my earbuds and sends shivers down my spine. Great stuff!
I got my girl into listening to it as well and she’s hooked. She told me of a time when she was sitting in traffic and had the show playing in the car. All of a sudden this zombie made this loud howling sound and made her jump and scream. People on the lanes next to her were looking and laughing.
If you guys like zombie stories, then you’ll really want to be part of this. I suggest you guys download a few chapters and listen to them while at work or commuting. Let your imagination run wild and enjoy a good scare. Get it free at the itunes store.
