With my favorite holiday fast approaching, I often think back of the halcyon days when I was a kid and how everything around me seemed to have that extra Halloween touch that made this my favorite holiday. From the decorations in my school classrooms to the sale decorations at the grocery store, the anticipation of the day where, to a kid, anything and everything magical can happen was palpable.
I don’t know if it’s because I’m in my 30s or that my carefree ways have been jaded like most adults, but the spirit of Halloween does not seem that present nowadays.
For example, do any of you remember when TV stations would announce the big “Bugs Bunny” Halloween special? How it was a featured presentation?
The feeling I get in today’s age is that of a streamlined and cold spirit of Halloween. To many, this Holiday means different things. As for me, it means that I get to relieve the halcyon days of my childhood. I sit back and watch those old cartoons thanks to YouTube. I watch zombie movies and horror movies throughout the month of October, hoping to catch that old and lost feeling and for a single day of the year, hope to be foolishly scared.
I hope you guys have a fun & safe Halloween!
