Supposed Orb from the Hinsdale property

Many of you probably never heard of the “Hinsdale House” haunting, but might be familiar with it anyways. The haunting case was portrayed by the popular Discovery channel series “A Haunting” entitled “Dark Forrest”.

Now, a new documentary is being put together to be shown as 21 installments of “Webisodes” over the internet of the infamous case. The film makers and people involved in this want to keep it “as authentic a piece as possible”, according to Mr. Roger Marsh, the project’s director.

“The style will be more documentary style, and in the case of the exorcism re-creation, docu-drama style,” Mr. Marsh said.

“We’re trying to be very factual,” Mr. Rambacher said. “There’s no enflaming things, or prefabricated or embellished things. It is what it is.”

This to me sounds like a very interesting project and will be following up on it. I will post the webisodes here on GhostTheory as they are made available.

HINSDALE – Back in 1974, there was an exorcism performed at the Hinsdale House on McMahon Road. At the end of August, that exorcism will be re-created for an Internet series.

Chicago’s Tremont Avenue Productions (T.A.P.) will produce the piece that will be re-created by local actors and directed by St. Bonaventure University alum Roger Marsh.

The 1974 exorcism was performed by Father Alphonsus Trabold of St. Bonaventure on the house for the Dandy family, which was featured in the book “Echoes of a Haunting” by Clara Miller.

The filming will also include the “de-psyching” of the property by psychic Alex Tanous.

The series of 21 10-minute webisodes will be uploaded to YouTube and the National Paranormal News Examiner page at examiner.com, Mr. Marsh said.

Mr. Marsh has enlisted the help of eyewitnesses and local paranormal investigator Michael Rambacher, who’s spent several years researching the Hinsdale House.

The idea is to create as authentic a piece as possible, Mr. Marsh said.

Although there was a film crew present at the exorcism, video of it has never surfaced. But the next best thing, a transcript of a tape recording of Father Trabold during the exorcism, has been found.

“Roger took the transcript and turned it into a 38-page script,” Mr. Rambacher said. “We’re (filming) it in the house, in the same rooms. It’s going to be an interesting production.”

“I was involved in this story in January 1975 after hearing a lecture the previous semester by Father Alphonsus Trabold at St. Bonaventure University,” Mr. Marsh said. “I investigated the house myself, and made several trips there over the next few months, and wrote a feature story for the Bona Venture.

“I have been interested in the story all these years, but when I saw a network one-hour film made about the house, I got in touch with Michael Rambacher, who was listed as a story consultant,” Mr. Marsh said.

Besides the 21-webisode series, other video shorts will also be available online. Those will include interviews with eyewitnesses and site investigations not related to the re-creation of the exorcism, Mr. Marsh said.

T.A.P. crew members will arrive Aug. 28 and filming will begin and finish that weekend.

A select few members of the public will be invited to the site for filming of the exorcism scene starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, for a $25 contribution.

Many members of the public are needed for the spirit-walk scene Saturday for a $5 fee. The scene calls for more than 100 people to walk the Hinsdale House land as spirits.

Anyone interested should arrive at the house at 1 p.m. Saturday, wearing clothing – without any logos – from any time period, though the older the better, T.A.P. officials wrote in a release. Those interested can call Mr. Rambacher at 373-2624.

The webisode series is slated to be online sometime in November. The plan is to run three episodes a week for seven weeks.

“It is an interesting, historical, paranormal place,” Mr. Rambacher said of the house. “It’s going to be an interesting end of the month.”
