DISCLAIMER: This article targets sex predators and their groups. I do not include the hardworking and professional paranormal researchers in my rant. Which is the majority of you out there.
Thanks to SciFake and the team over at Premiere Paranormal Research,Inc
a few sex offenders that work in the paranormal field have been brought to the public’s eye.
From SciFake’s blog:
JASON LEE CRAWFORD is a convicted, violent sexual predator and unbeknown to some, he is also currently an active paranormal investigator for New River Valley Paranormal Research Society (NRVPRS). You can view his public record by following this link and you see his photo to the right.Knowing Mr. Crawford is a convicted sexual predator, should Mr. Crawford be allowed to enter a paranormal client’s new-riverhome where children possibly reside? Also, should the client know about Mr. Crawford’s PUBLIC record prior to an investigation?
In my opinion, a client should know about Mr. Crawford’s public record and Mr. Crawford should not be allowed to commingle with children – regardless. Seriously, should we take this chance with Mr. Crawford? Being a father and a survivor of sexual abuse at a young age – I say when hell freezes over!
Now, this is not some guy who at the age of 19 had sexual intercourse with his 17 year old high school sweetheart! This man (according to records) is a CONVICTED violent sexual offender/paranormal researcher.
Sorry Crawford; however, you brought this moment on yourself when you committed this heinous crime against a child!
Sean Glasglas
Mr. Glas is also a Convicted sexual predator and his victim was just 13 years of age. Mr. Glas is the co-founder of the paranormal group Western Illinois Paranormal Society. Here is their myspace page. You can also see Mr. Glas’s public record here. Just type in his name to the left and you’ll see his heinous crime.
As with Mr. Crawford, should Mr. Glas be allowed to enter a paranormal client’s home where children possibly reside? Also, should the client know about Mr. Crawford’s PUBLIC record prior to an investigation?
What? Background checks are not mandatory for researchers.
With the popularity of ghost hunting increasingly expanding, we are finding out some paranormal researchers are also violent sexual predators and there are NO mandatory background checks are conducted or required. Did we miss something here? I thought for sure conducting background checks would be a given especially given the fact that some do enter homes where children do reside.
Mr. Crawford’s record includes:
TAKING INDECENT LIBERTIES WITH CHILDREN
AGGRAVATED SEXUAL BATTERY
Wow! I have to admit that I am dumbfounded at the fact that “paranormal researchers” form these groups without doing a background check on their members. It’s one thing to blog and write about the paranormal, and quite another to have close contact and full access to a client’s home and lives.
This is a subject (dead horse) that we here write about all the time. About how unprofessional representatives of the paranormal field hold themselves with some form of authority. People claiming to know what they are doing when it comes to hauntings, and end up ruining people’s lives.
For example, a client might call one of these groups for some help with strange noises or apparitions or what not. The client does not know where to turn for help, so they look up the closest paranormal group in the area and contact them for help.
In comes the team (motley crew).
These people are usually new to the paranormal field, with no real knowledge of cases, history or data analysis relating to the paranormal.
Basically a bunch of overworked rubes looking to get their kicks in for the weekend, they will show up with full access to the client’s home. Access to their personal lives, possessions and children.
They can instruct the client to do whatever it is they want them to do (ie. leave the house for a few hours, have an isolated interview with family members…) without the clients objecting because they are so desperately in need of some explanation as to what is going on. The clients are people who usually watch reality/paranormal TV shows and base their needs off what they see.
Do the clients do a background check on these people? Not likely.
Paranormal groups, should start doing background checks on all their members. Clients should be extra careful on who they trust, do background checks as well and remember that these people hold no authority whatsoever.
I just hope these ass***** get what they deserve.
