Oklahoma has long been considered the buckle of the “Bible Belt.” Seems the buckle has gotten a little undone and they are caught with their pants down.
Remember, Freedom means for everyone, not just everyone who agrees with you.

New York, NY — (SBWIRE) — 12/01/2013 — The Satanic Temple, an established New York City-based religious organization, has offered to donate a public monument to Oklahoma’s Capitol Preservation Commission for display upon Oklahoma City’s capitol grounds. Described as an “homage” to Satan, the purpose of the monument is to complement and contrast the Ten Commandments monument that already resides on the North side of the building. The donation offer has been submitted and is currently awaiting the commission’s reply.
“[B}y accepting our offer, the good people of Oklahoma City will have the opportunity to show that they espouse the basic freedoms spelled out in the Constitution. We imagine that the ACLU would also embrace such a response. Allowing us to donate a monument would show that the Oklahoma City Council does not discriminate, and both the religious and non-religious should be happy with such an outcome. Our mission is to bring people together by finding common sentiments that create solutions that everyone can appreciate and enjoy.”
Okla., thanks to its argument for religious monuments on public display, now must accept the Satanic Temple and their memorial. The law allows them to put it right next to the 10 Commandments, if they so desire. Next week, who knows, perhaps the Satanic Temple will get the opportunity to name a new public school. It’s not like the state would be hypocrites who would only accept their own narrow religious views in direct violation of the US Constitution after all. Wouldn’t that be something to witness?
Oh yes it would!
So, what is it going to be GOP? A memorial to 666 himself, courtesy of the Satanic Temple and its members in Okla., or a return to the tenets of this nation, with a wall of separation between Church and State. Because once you open up the gates, and let the flood of religion into the public commons, you can no longer control whose messages go out to the public.
Will it really happen? According to an article on Fox News
Brady Henderson, legal director for ACLU Oklahoma, said if state officials allow one type of religious expression, they must allow alternative forms of expression,
“We would prefer to see Oklahoma’s government officials work to faithfully serve our communities and improve the lives of Oklahomans instead of erecting granite monuments to show us all how righteous they are,” Henderson said. “But if the Ten Commandments, with its overtly Christian message, is allowed to stay at the Capitol, the Satanic Temple’s proposed monument cannot be rejected because of its different religious viewpoint.”
But then some people might not consider Fox News to be an unbiased source.
Satanists don’t limit their efforts to such crass public displays, they do their part to clean up our highways and public spaces.

The Satanic Temple crowdsources effort to ‘adopt-a-highway’ in New York City

In further efforts to increase public understanding and acceptance of Satanism, the Satanic Temple plans to enter the adopt-a-highway program in New York City where they will maintain voluntary beautification of a stretch of public highway for at least 2 years by way of litter cleanup and landscaping.
And let’s not forget, it is never too late to start teaching Satan’s Love!
Rally in Tallahassee
Posted February 4th, 2013 by LucienThis past January, the 25th, The Satanic Temple staged a rally on the Capitol Steps of Tallahassee in support of Florida Governor Rick Scott’s Senate Bill (98) which authorizes “a district school board to adopt a policy that allows an inspirational message to be delivered by students at a student assembly; providing policy requirements; providing purpose, etc.”
While some saw Senate Bill 98 a flagrant attempt at inserting Christian prayer into public schools, The Satanic Temple recognized that all religions and religious perspectives (including those of non-believers) stand to benefit from this freedom to speak their message to those who might otherwise never be exposed to it. SB98, we feel, supports religious diversity, rather than homogeneity.
