So, I guess the buzz around the block is that “mainstream science” is confident that the Higgs Boson particle does actually exist. If you don’t know what a Higgs Boson is, let me summarize it the best way I can:

In quantum theory, the Higgs Boson (or ‘God Particle’) is one of the elementary particles that make up everything. And when I say everything, I mean the entire universe. The particle is said to be part of the fabric of time and matter. The mesh that keeps all atoms, elements, chemicals, objects, and conscious life from falling apart. It introduces drag to all particles except photons (light), which travels drag-free through the universe.

If that still makes no sense, then watch this video which does a far better job in explaining the Higgs Boson.

If we can turn to our imagination and abstract thinking for a minute we can build on the Higgs Boson model. For example: Science is saying that with this discovery, we can properly theorize that everything in the universe is connected, or at least resides in the same plane of existence. From a quantum perspective, human beings are connected to all living creatures in the universal sense. Just like my carbon atoms are surrounded by the same particles that surround Jupiter’s rocks.

In that sense, many have theorized that a collective consciousness could exist. All free thinking creatures on Earth should be able to tap into a sort of “feelings internet” and share their feelings universally.

Does that sound a bit too out there?

Not according to the Global Consciousness Project. Directed by Dr. Roger Nelson, the GCP is a scientific look into predicting the future through a global collection of thought.

The Global Consciousness Project (GCP) is an international effort involving researchers from several institutions and countries, designed to explore whether the construct of interconnected consciousness can be scientifically validated through objective measurement. The project builds on excellent experiments conducted over the past 35 years at a number of laboratories, demonstrating that human consciousness interacts with random event generators (REGs), apparently “causing” them to produce non-random patterns. A description of the technical implementation is given under procedures.

The experimental results clearly show that a broader examination of this phenomenon is warranted. In recent work, prior to the Global Consciousness Project, an array of REG devices in Europe and the US showed non-random activity during widely shared experiences of deeply engaging events. For example, the funeral ceremonies for Princess Diana, and the international Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, created shared emotions and a coherence of consciousness that appeared to be correlated with structure in the otherwise random data. In the fully developed project, a world-spanning array of labile REG detectors is connected to computers running software to collect data and send it to a central server via the Internet. This network is designed to document and display any subtle, but direct effects of our collective consciousness reacting to global events. The research hypothesis predicts the appearance of coherence and structure in the globally distributed data collected during major events that engage the world population.
