Should We Obey The Voice?

Should We Obey The Voice?

This morning as I was about to lock my door and head out for the day, something happened.

While I pulled my front door shut a voice inside me clearly said: “Unplug the toaster”. Now it wasn’t loud and it wasn’t said with any sort of emotion or inflection. It was just said, once, plainly and clearly.

Of course, I walked back in the house and followed the command and while I was at it, I unplugged the can opener that was on the same duel outlet.

As a Christian I often listen for God’s instruction or as we call it “a word”. However, I’ve never had such a command spoken to me before, in fact, I can’t for the life of me remember anytime in my entire life that I’ve had such a thing happen. While I do believe that God guides me via the Spirit to be the best Christian I can be and do the things that will help me in that endeavor, I do not hear voices coming from the inside….until today that is.

Now after I unplugged things and left the house, I didn’t really give it another thought until I “coincidentally” happened upon a Bigfoot blog by DB Donlon called The Blogsquatcher. In fact, the site I opened which linked to The Blogsquatcher was a site I hadn’t opened in two months prior. More coincidences piling up? Let me explain:

While perusing The Blogsquatcher for the first time I happen to notice a story he did called “Is It All In The Head?”. It’s fairly short so I decided to quote it:

Is It All In The Head?

I’m not quite done with my paranoid ravings but maybe you’ll indulge me just a little further.

As I was saying, there appears to me to be a third party involved in many Bigfoot sightings. I ran across more than one example of someone saying something along the lines of “I got the feeling if I looked (in a particular direction) I would see something” and there would be Bigfoot. In my interview with Henry Franzoni, he told me that the only time he ever actually saw a Bigfoot was when he got the mental instruction to turn quickly down a dirt road off the highway he was on, and when he did, his headlights caught a Bigfoot crossing that road.

Well I have had this sort of thing happen to me also, but in my case where I looked, there sat a nice fat UFO hanging in the sky. It was just sitting up there, not moving, and then starting to slowly move. If I had been the only one to see it, I would have believed that it existed only in my mind — since I had had that brief flash of thought “hey look up there” before looking. But I asked my son to look up and tell me what he saw, and he saw it too.

Perhaps some of you can relate to this? If you had a sighting and felt or heard something along these lines, perhaps you’ll leave a comment or email me about it. I would appreciate it if you did. Because I think that this is one of the loose corners of the phenomenon that we might tear up to see what is hidden underneath.

I’ve written about how Bigfoot and UFOs are connected before so there’s nothing new here on that score. But I doubt that either Bigfoot or UFOs are actually what we think them to be.

On the one hand, if we do get these brief “premonitions” before a sighting, then one could argue that what began in the mind continues there as well. We don’t actually see anything out in the real world — what we see is, perhaps, projected upon our minds from another source. And this may in fact be true, at least part of the time.

Footprints and other bits of physical evidence would argue against this, but I’m not sure it closes the door completely. For instance, we very rarely see the creature actually leaving the evidence. The only case that jumps to mind where the creature was seen leaving the prints and then the prints were cast is the Patterson/Gimlin film. I’m sure there are other cases, but as I say, these are rare.

If you didn’t see what left the evidence, and you suspect there is a 3rd party with powers that appear to us to be supernatural (but which I would argue are simply of a technology far advanced of our own), then there is every chance that you are being lead by the nose by that 3rd party toward conclusions that suit its interests.

This is where the story goes off in a slightly different direction and if you like you can read the rest here.

As I got about half way through the above article the toaster voice incident suddenly came back to me and I started to wonder about our readers out there and if they had ever had anything happen to them such as an uncontrollable urge to “look” in a certain direction or a voice that said something audible but internal. This is what caused me to piece the days events together and write this article.

While Donlon is focused on Bigfoot and he has some theories involving UFOs that most in the field don’t even recognize, the general idea is relevant in what I’m speaking on.

I read a report recently from a man who claims to have seen a UFO and as he watched it from the back seat of his family car as a child, a voice suddenly told him to lay down on the floor between the front and back seats. The moment after he obeyed the command, the car he was in had a head on crash with another vehicle. Everyone was killed accept him.

Is there a source that can send messages to you telepathically? Is there some mechanism inside you that reveals these small incidental messages? I have my own opinions on psychics but I certainly don’t want to leave out anything here. PrecognitionPremonition, fight or flight and sixth sense are just a few examples that could account for such moments.

Then again, does it always have to be one certain phenomena on every occasion? As I said, I like to credit God with my toaster message but why am I doing that? Obviously because I associate the toaster as an electrical appliance with “fire”. Because I immediately formed that train of thought it obviously gave me the impression that God was protecting my house by telling me that. Then again, as I said, it’s never happened before, so could it be that I was experiencing something else? Those who don’t believe in God would surely think so but that’s not where I want the conversation to go.

I want to relate a challenge to the readers right now. I’d obviously like to read some other experiences you’ve had that relate to the whole message from inside type phenomena, but I’d also like to read your opinions on what you think it was and how you feel about it.

Did a voice tell you to leave a room or look into a car window only to find out something unbelievable associated with it? Were you saved by a voice from within? I want to hear about it! Tell your story.

Now, if I go home tonight and plug the toaster in and sparks fly, I’ll obviously freak out but for now I just have to wait and read some of your great stuff.

Finally, while we can attribute mental illness for similar events, lets save that for another time, OK?

…and please, lets not turn this into a debate over God or Religion. Please stay on subject.

Thanks to DB Donlon and his blog The Blogsquatcher for the helpful info provided.
