Vampires. Is there anything more sexier or seductive than these blood-sucking creatures of the night?
Hollywood has beautified and romanticized the vampire to no end. Images of those leather-clad, dark and mysterious pretty people have invaded our imaginations for decades. I won’t lie, I’m attracted to the goth fashion. Especially women who know how to do it tastefully. There’s nothing hotter than when I first learned that my girlfriend practiced Wicca. Why? Because it just seems so out of the norm. Mysterious and occult. I don’t dress or live the goth life, but I do enjoy it. Back in late 2001 I used to visit this “vampire club” in Hollywood. I wasn’t a regular, but I did visit this place a couple of times. Each time, the nightmare of the “blood dance” in the opening scene in Blade was strong in my head.
Not that I was intimidated, but I did feel out of my element. Hence why I kept going back. The mystery and the uncertainty. Only the women there would keep me from leaving. Many of them were Hollywood burnouts who played the part, but every once and awhile you would run into someone who really believed in the lifestyle. Women who worked as psychics all over Hollywood and L.A., and were there to unwind.
But if anything, we all know that Hollywood distorts the truth. Although the vampire allure is powerfully seductive, the truth is, these creatures of the night are nothing to lust over. The ugly truth is that vampires are hedonistic creatures. Blood is their only vice. So when you really think about it, they are only out to hunt their usual prey…you.
So what happens when you lift the Hollywood veil?
You are left with the gruesome truth about vampires, and quite honestly, they truly are cold blooded.
This Friday Video brings you the History Channel’s Vampire Secrets. A gruesome, but real, look into vampires.
The documentary is superb, so if you like it as much as I do, buy yourself the DVD:
