Well lets get it out, I seen a reader or two commenting about Ghost Lab and I figured I would break the ice on this. On the overall, I felt Ghost Lab was an updated version of Ghost Hunters. Most of what their investigation portrayed was really no different than Ghost Hunters, just without the camera crew following the staff around in the dark with nightvision on (I’m glad the Klinge brothers realize that ghosts don’t need the lights to be out to come out and play). Most of the equipment is the same so far, with the only exception being the data collectors. I really do think the data collectors are a nifty new device to use, and it’s uses are apparent. Recording not only EMI/EMF, but temperature, and humidity is helpful. The converted ‘lab’ trailer is definately a useful enviroment in which to conduct and review information, and I always thought about that for Ghost Hunters (actually I thought in grander terms…like a RV).
Their approach so far is really not too much the different. The staff walks around with equipment and attempts to lure the ghosts out to play, whilst recording visually or audibly. The Klinge brothers approach with ‘Era Cues’ might actually be helpful, though I believe that remans to be seen. Some of the biggest gripes I have currently refer to an article I read months ago about how the show was going to take a ‘scientific approach’ to investigating, and by using science, help prove that the paranormal is possible. So far I’ve seen very little of that. They contacted a physicist about parallel universes and mentioned that a EVP was not on the same wavelenghth as a human voice. That’s all?
Another gripe is the same as any other ghost show…they missed the oppurtunity to capture something. The door opens in the balcony at Shreveport Auditorium (an event they knew happens often), yet there is no video recorder set to watch said door? A door slams later in the evening yet the two investigators there see it, but have no recording equipment on themselves running? I don’t see how they are going to prove anything without having any proof to show. Personal experiences are not going to fly far.
