Kentucky students search local graveyard for paranormal activity.

Sixteen students stood in a local cemetery Thursday night, circled around a grave with hands held out and invited ghosts to make their presence known. They waited on a gust of cold air or a noise to confirm their hopes of paranormal activity.

Those students are members of SPOOKy, or Super Paranormal Organization Of Kentucky.

SPOOKy encourages students to explore the world of paranormal activity and come to their own conclusions on whether ghosts exist, said Lexington senior Drew Eclov, who co-founded the group.

SPOOKy started last year and became an official campus club in May, he said.

This semester, club members started their paranormal investigations at a cemetery on College Street, where Bowling Green senior Skylar Baker-Jordan said he had a paranormal experience.

“I definitely felt a cold pocket of air around my right hand, which many believe is a sign a ghost is near you, around you or even touching you,” Baker-Jordan said. “It moved to my cheek, sort of like it was kissing me.

“I don’t know exactly what that was, of course, but it was pretty wild.”

Eclov said he’s skeptical about ghosts existing, but he wanted to start the club because he believed it would be a great way to meet new people and bring people together with a common, though unusual, interest.

“My brother got me into ghost hunting,” Eclov said. “At first I thought he was crazy, but after I went out with him, I saw that he might be onto something.”

After Eclov’s brother sparked his interest, he decided to do video work for Lexington-based ghost hunter Patti Starr and has been investigating since.

“I’m not convinced there are ghosts, but I do believe it is extremely likely, and I hope there are,” Eclov said.

He said he’s had paranormal experiences in campus dorms.

“In my old room in McLean, I heard my bottle of shampoo fly across my bathroom, and no one was there to move it,” Eclov said.

He said he performed an investigation in McLean Hall with SPOOKy member Colton Jessie.

In search of a paranormal visitor, they asked that any present ghosts knock, said Jessie, a Bowling Green junior.

Jessie said their request was met with one knock on the ceiling.

He said they asked paranormal visitors to knock again on the count of three, and after they counted, they heard another knock.

SPOOKy members go on several investigations throughout the year.

The club’s first adventure was at a hospital in Scottsville, which Eclov said creeped out some club members.

SPOOKy’s upcoming investigations include trips around Bowling Green, Franklin and campus dorms, Eclov said.

He said some of the bigger trips include investigating the Kentucky Theatre in Lexington and the Octagon Hall in Franklin.

“It’s been an absolute blessing to have so many people excited about what we’re doing and to get so much support,” Eclov said. “…I thought everyone would either call us sacrilegious or crazy, but so many people have admitted an interest or curiosity to us.”

It would be interesting to see what these students caught in the photo, if anything was captured at all. Let’s just hope it’s not another Orb photo.
