Golcar UFO Pic – Not what it seems..

UFO: trash bag? balloon? or E.T.?

UFO: trash bag? balloon? or E.T.?

Balloon or helicopter.

Seems rather shiny to be a helicopter and from the looks of it, too big for a ordinary balloon. Either way it’s hard to tell due to the low quality image.

DID the little green men read the map wrong and end up en route to Mars-den?

Perhaps E.T. just wanted to phone Holme.

Whatever the truth, Examiner reader Sue Sill reckons she inadvertantly snapped a UFO flying across Huddersfield.

Sue, of Hexham Green in Longwood, took this picture at a joint first birthday party for her grandson, Jude, and granddaughter, Lily.

She was in the garden of her son, Shane Haigh, on Sycamore Avenue in Golcar, on Sunday afternoon.

The shot shows a mysterious looking airborne object, possibly hovering over Lockwood.

Sue said: “I was just snapping away, taking photographs. I didn’t even see it and it wasn’t visible to the naked eye.

“It was only when I looked back at the picture on the camera that I noticed it.

“At first I thought it was a cloud, then I zoomed in and saw this funny pear-shaped object.”

Sue, a believer in the paranormal, was among about 50 people at the bash.

She has racked her brain for another explanation.

“It’s not a Chinese lantern, because I’ve let those off before and this looks nothing like one,” she said.

“It was either moving extremely fast and I was just lucky to catch it with the picture, or it wasinvisible.

“No-one else saw it either and it made no sound. I can’t explain it.

“I’m a believer in UFOs, because this isn’t the first time I’ve seen one.”

The Ministry of Defence, which investigates UFOs, would not be drawn on the picture.

A spokeswoman said: “The MoD examines reports solely to establish whether UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity.

“Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, there is no attempt to identify the nature of each sighting reported.

“Independent experts have concluded to date that there are realistic explanations behind alleged UFO reports.

“Reports are examined by the Ministry of Defence solely to establish whether UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity.

“If required, sighting reports are examined with the assistance of the department’s air defence experts. Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, no further work is undertaken to identify the nature of each sighting reported.

“The Ministry of Defence has no other interest or role regarding UFO matters. Nor does the department consider questions regarding the existence or otherwise of extraterrestrial life-forms.”
