Egon and the famous PKE meter. GhostBusters movie
I was browsing through some news articles this morning and ran across a piece from wjbf Channel 6 which is titled “South Georgia Ghost Hunters Get Scientific“.
Fox News
Published: July 9, 2009Lee County, GA—Chehaw Village, along New York Road, in Lee County, GA is an unassuming picnic spot, with a lot of untold history.
A marker placed by the Daughters of the American Revolution only tells part of the story.
South Georgia Paranormal Investigators want to know the whole story, so they’re going to the source, so to speak.
There are no Ouija Boards or seance, using a camera and equipment that measures electromagnetic fields the investigation begins.
The crew spread out, snapping pictures and taking readings, looking for anything that isn’t easily explained away.
Our own goose bump experience came when the group plugged in it’s paranormal puck.
It translated thousands, Indian, night, words not uncommon for this area, but then it starting reading words including video.
Coincidence? Then explain the voices caught in the background of the recorders running the entire time. Or increased readings from trees that are descendents of the trees that stood when the massacre occurred?
The group knows there will be skeptics.
For the South Georgia Paranormal Investigators, it’s proof enough something exists at this site, what that is will take further investigation and more research.
So when you get that uneasy feeling in what should be a familiar place, or can’t explain a strange smell, or you hear a strange sound when you know you’re the only one there, but can’t explain it, you can call south Georgia’s ghost hunters.
I’ve never heard of the “Paranormal Puck”. It’s a device that plugs right into the USB port of your computer and uses “ECM” technology.
ECM stands for “Environmental Communication Mode”. It basically “reads” energy levels and translates them to text.
The disclaimer for the device states:
The Paranormal Puck is sold as an entertainment device only. We make no claim to the validity of the data received by this device…..
This device can generate disturbing text and speech; children under the age of 18 should not use it…
The instructions go on to give a few more facts about the device:
Remember the odds of this device saying a word that [is] contextually correct is 1 in 2000
And in the units with phonetic speech the odds are only 1 in 71
It’s strange how many people actually go out to the fields and bring these so-called “Paranormal devices” without really knowing what they are using. In the clip above, the member from the “South Georgia Paranormal Investigators” seems rather excited that the Paranormal Puck actually picked up the word “News” from the “energy field” around them.
Here is a helpful hint: If a device that is being marketed as a ghost hunting tool says “For entertainment purposes only”, chances are that you will not get any scientific results from it.
