MonsterQuest

In the midst of all the paranormal shows that are on television nowadays, there is one show that I find very stimulating. History channel’s MonsterQuest.

I don’t know if you guys have seen the new season, or if you guys are even aware of the show; but MonsterQuest is a show about monsters, cryptids for you that follow cryptozoology.

The show’s premise is simple and intriguing. Present information on reported and/or documented cryptids around the world. Present the evidence and testimonies. Send independent researchers around the globe to study and try to capture evidence on that particular cryptid. In between that, they’ll show the history of the cryptid and show the skeptic’s side of the story as well. The show stays fairly leveled in giving the audience both sides of the coin. Unlike many shows out there *cough*paranormalstate*cough*, MonsterQuest does not go into an investigation with a predetermined outcome or with any biased opinions.

The research they do on various cryptids (and sometimes non-cryptids) is very accurate. I’ve researched hundred of cases and am very familiar with the cases that they do. The show is always on the dot with accounts, history and speculation. Given that the research team has money given to them by the show’s producers, I think they put it to good use. In fact, some of the cases which have been deemed stale for years have been presented with more witnesses and evidence. Whoever their research team members are, I envy you!!

The tests and experiments done through the show’s plot are very poignant and to the point. I believe the episode when they took on the massive task on trying to find out how easy it was to have faked the “Bigfoot walk” in the infamous Patterson-Gimlin film was very educational and necessary. With the broad range of mechanics and technology, they managed to show the skeptics that it was not as easy back then to have created a fake Bigfoot. They showed how it would have been nearly impossible for someone to have such an advanced “monkey suit” in the late 60s. A suit that showed musculature, uneven body hair, a detailed face and even a sagittal crest. Of course…there is still the possibility it could have been faked.

MonsterQuest does not just stop with cryptids and UFOs. They’ve done some episodes on the history of Vampirism and Ghosts. Showing that the show is very diverse and open to all forms of worldly anomalies.

If you get a chance, TiVo or watch some of their episodes. MonsterQuest does not disappoint.
