On Aug 17 at 8pm ET History Channel is premiering a documentary called the Gates of Hell. I couldn’t find a whole lot about it expect a couple of quick write ups and some commercials while I was watching Pawn Stars tonight. My guess is a group of explorers will go in search of the Gates of Hell. What they will find? Probably just some spooky camera shots but it could be some interesting history behind these places. According to the preview from the History Channel they will also explore the history of Hell. I took a “History of the Devil” course in college and it is fascinating how the Devil has evolved over time into what he is today, which would lead me to believe that the history of Hell should be equally interesting. Again this is probably more educational than anything else but it looked cool and I am sure some people here at GT would enjoy the show. I will do a full review on the show after I watch it and post it up later this week. Below is the official write up from the History Channel:

There are six places on Earth believed to be actual entrances into Hell. They include a volcano in Iceland, a cave in the jungles of Central America, and a lake of fire in Africa. According to ancient myth and Christian legend, each is a passage to a terrifying underworld for the damned. Even today, some believe they are still portals. Eerily, they share striking similarities. We’ll visit these six locations, and along the way, reveal how the concept of Hell emerged in history and why it still evokes fear today.
